About Flavours of the Bush
🍂 A Word From Nigel Rivers
Founder, Bush Steward, Purveyor of the Oddly Useful
Hello! And welcome to the Flavours of the Bush Online Outpost. I'm Nigel Rivers. Now, believe it or not, I wasn’t always a man of the bush — but I always knew the noise of the world wasn’t quite my tempo. One day, I wandered off the beaten path (literally), and found that nature didn’t just welcome me… it was me. No distractions. No anxiety. Just wind, dirt, and whatever berries were ripe.
That’s when I started filming myself in the wild to share it with new friends i made on the WWW— just trying things, cooking up ideas, and connecting with folks like you who felt the same itch. The Flavours of the Bush was born from that: part store, part show, all heart.
My philosophy’s simple: we’ve got a duty to care for nature just as its taken care of us, like a mother, no? — with love, with reverence, and with spontaneous joy. I believe everyone should be able to experience the outdoors for generations to come, but TODAY as well — that’s why I support charities that help folks with special needs and limited access get out into the wild places. The bush belongs to everyone.
Bushcraft, you see, is more than knives and fire — it’s delicious. It’s human. It’s the way back to what we forgot we needed.
So if you're feelin' outta step with the modern world — come bushside. I’ve set up camp, stocked the shelves, and made space at the fire.
Let’s enjoy the flavours of the bush. Together.
With muddy boots and warm beans,
— Nigel Rivers
